Enjoying an Internship Position in the YEU AO in Brussels
My name is Samir and I am from Azerbaijan. Having a bachelor degree on “International Relations” in my home country, played a major role in my government encouraging me to continue my education abroad. Thus, I am now studying for my Master’s Degree on “Political Science and Diplomacy” in Lithuania. During my academic years, I tried be an active student in youth sector and university life in general. As a result, the university in which I studied considered my activity and provided me with a scholarship to have an internship in a European country.
I am now an intern in the Administrative Office of YEU International in Brussels. I have been in the office for almost a month and every day I have access to so many information concerning youth policy, the youth sector and youth activities. Being a YEU Intern also means that I have the opportunity to participate in international youth trainings. One of the international projects was in Stockholm/Sweden from the 24th – 30th of June 2011 which was called “A step forward: Paths to enhance participation and community impact of youth activity”. I participated in the training on behalf of YEU and I hope that our organization will continue to cooperate with other participants’ organizations in the future and I very pleased that I will also be able to contribute.
Also, I am working on a research concerning differences between the Azerbaijani and Lithuanian youth sectors based on the knowledge and skills that I have acquired during my internship. Another big plan for the future is to create a questionnaire and research further about the “Impact of volunteering on the development of skills”. I hope this knowledge will support me for my future life and future career.
