Young Reporter covering youth issues in Serbia
In a time of great social differences, disturbed social relations and values, where one of the greatest enemies of youth is passiveness and not taking anything into consideration, Resource Centre Leskovac brings together young people who want a change in the society around the idea titled “Young Reporter”.
Young Reporter is the first truly socially active monthly youth magazine / newsletter. It was started by the Resource Centre Leskovac in March 2009 in response to the need of having all relevant information regarding arts and culture in one place that was unfortunately lacking in today's media.
For nearly two years of active work, this monthly magazine has reached a circulation of 1,000 copies in Serbia. The average number of writers for each bulletin is around thirty young people from Serbia and Balkans and each paper is read by more than 10,000 people. Till now we have issued 20 magazines, all of them distributed free of charge.
The content is abundant: socially/politically engaged columns, reviews (music, film and literary works) objective articles, interviews, columns, news, reviews and charts. During last year we interviewed more than twenty relevant figures, as experts in all fields of art, key persons from government and political structures of our country, as well as the most prominent leaders of the organizations. We aim at the topics that are fresh, taboo, popular, irritating, interesting, social, community, youth issues - without any censorship.
Within each issue of young reporter special part is given to policy as a supplement to deal with various topics. We have had special editions dedicated on high school activism, protection of environment and human rights.
