Be a man club - Stop violence against girls and women

04/05/2014

STOP VIOLENCE AGAINST GIRLS AND WOMEN is their goal, and they are Be a man club – Banja Luka. “Through the years we have watched all around us violence happening of all forms and we can’t take it any more“ this is the sentence that every member of the club will tell you.

WHAT IS BE A MAN CLUB?

BE A MAN CLUBS are founded as high school clubs that want to get involved creatively on promoting healthy life styles of responsible and mature young men. Members of these clubs underttake intersting activities that animate their peers to realize that real men: are not violent, respectes women and is responsible in sex. Besides educative and creative workshops that they had attended in their cities, these teenagers have got a chance to travel, get to know and spend time with their peers from the region (also memebers of Be a man club) and Ireland. Work of these clubs is supported by many celebrities from the region: Milan Kalinić, Edo Majka, Marko Jovanović (ex De Fence), Enis Bešlagić, Edin Džeko, Bulend Biščević-Buki.

For 6 years they exist and 6 years they are active in their struggle for better and more equal society.

They are active in 12 towns/municipalities of Bosnia and Herzegovina: Banja Luka, Srbac, Ljubija, Mrkonjić Grad, Laktaši, Novi Grad, Gradiška, Gradačac, Gračanica, Srebrenica, Vlasenica and Bratunac.

Their “fight” is different. They are fighting with all possible ways, through different activities, campaigns, video/viral messages, and with all that they use slogans like: BE A MAN – change the rules, show her that you care, say NO to violence, give a flower to a girl, work your brain not your muscles...

Some of the actions that they have organized were: BE A MAN – Dance, where on city square in Banja Luka through music and dance they talked against all types of violence, COMPETITION IN THE LONGEST HUG that gathered a large number of young people from which the few most persistant  remained hugged for few hours. The message that they sent with this action is that you should show your emotions without any embarrassment and that they see hug as a possible solution to every problem. We also made a video for International Woman Day that deals with the topic of how the International Woman Day will look in 100 years from now. Goal of this video was to remind all people of real values that International Women day carries in it.

In this short text we have stated just some of the actions they have done, many are still to come, because they are persistent in their intentions.
