YEU participated on 3rd European Alcohol Policy Youth Conference
Between 12th - 16th May, Jovana Vukovic, one of the Governing Board members of YEU represented YEU on 3rd European Alcohol Policy Youth Conference (EAPYC) held in Slovenia. YEU International is a member organization of Alcohol Policy Youth Network (APYN) already for couple of years. Main aim of APYN is to work on prevention and reduction of alcohol related harm. They are building capacities of organizations on advocacy of alcohol policy and researches related to alcohol and young people. Nevertheless, they tend to affect attitudes and behaviours of young people.
3rd EAPYC brought aprox. 70 participants from all around Europe, some even came from Nepal and Kenya, to work on a common plan and ideas for next stages of youth mobilization in the field of alcohol and promotion of healthy lifestyle. Conference was supported by speakers coming from World Health Organization, Ministry of health of Slovenia, Institute of Alcohol Policy and many more. It was a mix of lectures, workshops and non-formal activities.
For me personally, this conference served as an reminder on how much we take our health for granted and how serious problem with alcohol consumption is. But not just consumption, also implementation of alcohol related policies in reality.
Day after conference, General Assembly of APYN was held. Members discussed the Statute, future plans of network, they appointed new Secretary General, decided on new memberships but also elected new Executive board.
