WYRED Social Dialogues
Moving on to the second Cycle of the WYRED process, YEU had the opportunity to run Social Dialogues with students and Volunteers from the Community of Tortona from the 19th to 22nd of March 2018.
Never too young to know how to act online…
As first part of our Social Dialogue process, YEU used the method of learning by playing with 5 groups of children. Topic covered was "How we should act when being online." These 126 young students from the age of 11 to 17, had the chance to build the digital world in front of their eyes and make it more tangible. Using Non-Formal Education methodologies, these young people engaged in a “learning through gaming” process that gave them a deeper view on how our acts online affect our personal lives offline.
Through several actions, participants built the online space with their peers and discussed which are the responsibilities we have and how should we act when being online. At the same time, while not expected, the children tackled the issues of rights and attitudes of users. Some of the topics where cyberbullying, fake identities, good and bad behavior. online
The impact of Digital Evolution in our lives…
Moreover, 60 additional young people from Italy and other parts of Europe had the chance to take part in a series of workshops that aimed their engagement in the process of Social Dialogue. WYRED project was once more in Tortona, getting people even more WYRED on the issue of Digital Society. Youth workers working on Intercultural Dialogue (including an activity with Refugees) and Civil Service volunteers (part of an Italian Program implemented by the Municipality of Tortona) covered a series of topics while trying to identify challenged and opportunities.
Additionally, as some of the participants where part of the 1 st Cycle of WYRED, had the chance to present their research and provide the facilitators with new ideas and feedback on how to empower more young people and how to make WYRED even more inclusive.
We are happy to see WYRED growing.
