Welcome Youthfully Yours!
First, we would like to give you a warm welcome to the YEU Family!
Thank you ☺
Could you tell us the story behind your organisation’s name and how it all started for you?
Our organisation was founded in 2015 in Eastern Slovakia after our founders participated in Erasmus+ projects and decided to offer this experience to our local youth as well. Since then we´ve been growing and take part in more and more projects to empower youngsters in our region.
For other Member Organisations know you better and see how we can all work together in the upcoming years, could you tell us which is your mission? Could you also tell us some exciting projects and what kind of knowledge or expertise you could offer to YEU Members?
What we would like to see in our region are Ambitious & Competent young people eager to benefit their community. In order to achieve that, we feel determined to advance young people's competences, to empower a sense of initiative & social responsibility, and to promote Active citizenship, Social inclusion & Intercultural dialogue among young people from Eastern Slovakia.
On the international level, we are part of numerous well-built partnerships and networks supported by different educational programmes and initiatives e.g. Erasmus+, International Visegrad Fund (IVF), European Youth Foundation (CoE), European Solidarity Corps (ESC).
As an organisation, how would you describe the improvement of young people lives through your projects?
Youthfully Yours works on a regular basis with young people with fewer opportunities. Particularly with those facing economic and social obstacles. It is true that unemployment rates in Slovakia reached the historical minimum yet there are significant differences between the western and eastern part of our country, the rates of unemployment of young people in September 2019 are approximately 12- 13 % in Prešov and Košice region. YY works with young people, mostly from those regions. The reason why they are in danger of becoming NEET is that there are fewer opportunities in the labour market than in the western part of the country – where the capital city – Bratislava is located. Also, there are significant differences in average wage between east and west. Young people in our region, therefore, cannot afford the same education as their peers in other regions, which cause their exclusion and low self-esteem.
Youthfully Yours empowers them, encourage them to participate in international mobilities where they can practice their language skills and put into practice their theoretical knowledge.
We also organize numerous local events aimed at the development of key competences of young people – specifically Mobility Friday, „pod a vyle+” and communication training.
YEU network is a one-big-YEU-family where we all share good and bad moments, interesting projects and experiences. Since you are becoming a member, could you tell us your biggest challenges during 2020 and how you managed?
During 2020 we felt very sorry for the young people from our region who planned to implement and participate in international mobilities which were postponed into 2021. Luckily, we managed to keep in touch with our target group supporting them via social media and transforming the planned activities into the online environment.
We would also love you to share some beautiful and happy moment your organisations has lived.
Our team is always happy when we get to know new partners and continue the cooperation with our old friends from organisations from all over the EU. Currently, we are happy to be in a number of KA2 projects, and we are planning to develop ourselves in this field even more.
For the end, can you tell us what are your expectations from YEU and its member organisations and in which area you see YEU network supporting you in achieving your goals?
We hope for creating fruitful partnerships with YEU member organisations and we are ready to share our experience and support you mainly in the topics of entrepreneurship, active citizenship, youth empowerment and sustainable development.
