Let’s get it (RE)started! - Closing a long-term process funded by European Youth Foundation
“ Think local, act global”
This is the perfect summary of my experience in the YEU project (Re)START- rethinking, assessing, activating and evaluating youth organizations.
As the name of the project says the aim was to rethinking and organise activities in order to boost the youth participation in our organisations and to support the youngsters in the local decision making process, because we cannot act on European level if we don’t think on local level.
Though one questionnaire shared amongst the local youngsters – showed by all of the organisations during the first training in Istanbul- we discovered the real needs and expectations of the youth society in each country and meanwhile we start to think about our activity in order to involve the youngsters. The creation of our activity culminated during the second training in Brussels, the hardest training. We deal with the action plan, the economical part and the Quality Assurance Indicators, the quality indicators of YEU. At the same time, it was interesting to try a new self-assesment method implemented by YEU related to online badges.
After Brussels, it’s go time!
We organised our local activity, we jumped on choising our non formal activities related to our activity topic, we tried to find the cheapest way to organise it and we completed everything with the final report.
Mollina - acting beyond our organizations!
Last but not least, the training course in Mollina, in Spain - on the occasion of the University on Youth and Development (#UYD)– where we finalized the final reports and we cooperated all together for the final publication of this one-year project. At the same time we experienced, discussed and got to learn a lot with other organizations and related to the topic of #UYD - #CONNECTINGIDENTITIES.
It was the first participation in one of the YEU project, and to be honest during this training course I learnt a lot… more than I expected.
I improved both my old competencies and my knowledge on project management, I discovered how the Quality Indicators are important for the implementation of the local and international activities, I gained skills that I’m using in the daily work life and that I’m using in other training courses.
Thanks YEU I took part in one of the inspiring event in Europe. I cannot describe how it was great my first participation in the #UYD.
Youngsters all around the world that cooperated together in order to build a better future sharing ideas and personal experience. Youngsters that believe in a better society and are working harder to build it.
I met strangers that became friends, I was inspired by everybody and everywhere, in the air you could feel the wind of change.
Each training course was a challenge, I call my work and my organisation into question, we encountered the youth reality and the real needs of the local youngsters, we rolled up our sleeves and we (RE)started!
