EYE: Together we can make a change!
European Youth Event is the most exciting European event for young people. It is organized by the European Parliament and European Youth Forum in collaboration with several partners. EYE took place in the European Parliament seat in Strasbourg from 20-21 May 2016.The European Parliament, through the European Youth Event (EYE), aims to empower young people all over Europe to participate and collaborate with EU decision-makers in building a better European Union.
EYE hosted more than 7.000 young people from all over Europe to meet, share and discuss their ideas with the European decision-makers and speakers through over 150 different sessions and panels. YEU was one of the partner of EYE and was taking part in the several sessions with 20 representatives from YEU MOs, board and staff.
The EYE 2016 included a large variety of activities run under the motto "Together we can make a change" in a political, social and cultural sense.
Activities focused on five main themes: 1. War and Peace: Perspectives for a Peaceful Planet 2. Apathy or Participation: Agenda for a Vibrant Democracy 3. Exclusion or Access: Crackdown on Youth Unemployment 4. Stagnation or Innovation: Tomorrow's World of Work 5. Collapse or Success: New Ways for a Sustainable Europe.
YEU organized some activities and workshops within this framework, in order to present organizations activities and methodologies and above all to give visibility to its latest projects. The forum theater activity from “Excuse me, is this hate yours” project was one of the most interesting activities that caught attention of young people. With this activity, related to the topic “War and Peace”, YEU gave space to young people to watch, to participate and to put their efforts to build peace in the world in different ways. YEU also organized other interactive sessions during 2 days. Furthermore YEU took part in the “Let’s talk recognition!” round table. In this meeting we had opportunity to discuss about the non-formal learning recognition with the MEPs and young people from all over Europe.
As follow-up, a report with the ideas discussed during the event will be produced and will be available to all Members of the European Parliament.
