EduSports starts in 2021!
Next year YEU International will start a new project called EduSports. It will be developed with four other partner organisations: United Societies of Balkans (USB) based in Greece; Armenian Progressive Youth (APY) based in Armenia; MOJU – Associação Movimento Juvenil em Olhão based in Portugal; and Sailing Club Horn Kraków based in Poland, a sports club specialised in the use of sport for education to tackle social exclusion.
The project aims to reinforce Education Through Sport as a methodology in the field of youth education and work in Europe since the European Union has recognised sport as an essential element in human beings' life, both for personal and professional development and the prevention of future health-related conditions. Sports bring a significant impact on the lives of young people, and through it, they can achieve their goals more efficiently.
The target group of the project are youth workers, trainers, facilitators, and youth organisations working with education and inclusion. They will benefit from the development of activities and the creation of a manual. By doing so, they will reach young people, helping them to improve their skills and promoting social inclusion.
Throughout the 24 months in which the project will take place, YEU International will use a new methodology. This is the Education through Sport methodology. What is it? It is a process where sport and physical activities become tools to achieve the educational goals first, where the sport itself becomes secondary to the educational purpose.
One of the main outcomes of the project will be the creation of a Manual on Sports Education. This will be the first time that YEU participates in a project centred on sports. By creating this manual, all member organisations within the YEU network will be able to benefit from it, helping them to use this new methodology.
