Call for YEU Project officer - Part time position
Youth for Exchange and Understanding, is an international youth organization. It was founded in Strasburg, in 1986, by a group of 120 people, from 11 different countries. Today it’s a member of the European Youth Forum and LifeLong Learning Platform and carries the title of an International Non-Governmental Organization, recognized by both the Council of Europe and the European Union. Almost 37 years after its foundation, YEU, today, has 36 Member Organisations across 27 countries in Europe and Africa. YEU works for the benefit of all young people in Europe. Youth for Exchange and Understanding (YEU) is seeking for a PROJECT OFFICER to join our team and be responsible for projects’ coordination and administration on temporary basis from October 1st 2018 until April 30th 2019 with a possibility for extension, depending on funding.
The person selected will work closely and report to YEU Secretary General. The contract for this position is based in Portugal, and it requires traveling and attendance to meetings and other project activities around Europe.
TASKS OF PROJECT OFFICER:

Carry out the implementation of Erasmus+ project Social Erasmus+ (Under action: Forward looking cooperation projects) and support the implementation of H2020 project (WYRED)

Management and organization of the activities linked to the projects carried out by YEU International with special attention to quality deliverables as defined by the projects

Arranging documentation for the reporting of all the activities and deliverables for YEU International (narrative and financial)

General Project management (overview, communications, documentation, reporting etc.)

Organisation of meetings and trainings (logistics, supporting and supervising content development and implementation)

Communication and cooperation with partners (other NGOs, European institutions) and follow up of the project activities

Supporting development of ideas and project proposals for new project funding opportunities

Supporting development of YEU network
-
Supporting the YEU office in other general administrative tasks
PROFILE, COMPETENCES AND REQUIREMENTS:

At least 3 years of experience in international youth work (professional and/or volunteer)

Experience in fundraising from different sources
-
Extensive project management experience (Please mention projects and initiatives implemented from the preparatory phase until its realization with the relevant references);

Excellent organisational skills (please mention events you have organised with appropriate details)

Good understanding of youth work and non-formal education

Good communication skills, empathy, tolerance and team spirit;

Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines set by external stakeholders and internal procedures;

Good knowledge of the European institutions;

Excellent knowledge (written and oral) of English. Knowledge of French and/or Portuguese are desirable but are not a condition.

Able to motivate colleagues and volunteers and coordinate international teams;

Has a sensitivity to cultural differences with ability to work in an international and intercultural environment;

Basic IT skills: Microsoft Office Suite, online collaborative tools (Gdrive, Basecamp)

Good research skills

Willingness to travel regularly and be flexible with working hours;

Self motivated and able to take initiatives;

Availability to start the position on October 1st 2018;
