IUS - Train of Tolerance

Train of Tolerance is the follow up activity of "Excuse me, is this hate yours" implemented by IUS in Ukraine. The first activity has already come to an end before the "Train of Tolerance" about to take place in November. As it is important to understand what actually happened, we asked two participants to share their experience.

Anton Serdiuchenko (Pavlograd):

"The decision to participate in the project came spontaneously - the curator of my student group sent me a link to the questionnaire, and I decided to try. Several days passed and I received a positive response from the organizers. I was glad and a bit overwhelmed by the upcoming Skype-interview, because it was my first experience like this. I was very worried before the interview and after, since I was not sure if I was convinced of the organizers' surprise. On the night of the same day, I could not sleep - I was worried, thought over the interview, and then a letter came with a congratulation that I am going to the "Tolerance Tour. Ukraine "- I was so happy.

A few weeks later, I already got acquainted with the participants and trainers of the project in Lviv. At the beginning of our training, I did not quite understand why we are there and what I will have to do, especially if I'm not familiar with the forum theater. The organizers of the project managed to find a really powerful group of participants who were incredibly positive, friendly, and most importantly, each of us had our own experience, knowledge and skills that we could later demonstrate in our forum-theater. After some days, when we already knew what we were going to do in general, we started writing a script for our form-theater. The discussion was lively, no one sat silently - each supplemented and prompted how to write this or that phrase. The final script was already the next day, and we began to rehearse it.

Before the start of the forum-theater, I had an excitement, because I was not sure if we would get it all as we planned. And now we are on the stage, the excitement was gone, there was confidence in ourselves and everything began to happen as it should. The audience took an active part in the action itself and its discussion.
I could not even imagine that I will like the forum theater so much, and then how can it show the problem in which everyone can create his "right" final. It was very pleasant when people approached me and said that they enjoyed both viewing and participating in our performance, and most importantly, they understood the essence of the problem that we demonstrated.

I think that we achieved the goal on that day, because if people were interested and they wanted to participate more, it was successful. I really look forward to the continuation of our "Tour of Tolerance. Ukraine " in November, and I am sure that everything will be better, because we already have experience of participation and holding a forum-theater, we have rallied as a team and are already working on improving our script.

In thoughts, only words of gratitude to the organizers and trainers of the project, because with their help this necessary project was created for Ukraine."

Martha Pukaliak (Lviv):

"My personal story began very early in the morning.

It was Monday, October 18, 2017. When l came into my room I noticed Yulia who was sleeping, but as soon as I arrived she got up and she was very happy. We haven't seen each other before, but l felt myself like we know each other for many years. We both didn't know what will happen, but we were full expectations. Later in the breakfast l got acquainted with everyone, and after some days l realized that each of them is unique. To say the truth we were happy with our trainers, they knew everything and what to do perfectly.

They explained everything immediately and assured us that they can answer any of our questions. Panagiotis was strict, but he knew what to do, his explanation and experience before any process were useful. Neel was ready to help any time, her stories about previous Tours were very interesting. Egle, thaught me how to dance! Thank you for that! It was the most difficult thing from me during this week. When discussing different issues, problems, between cultures we came across serious things that touched each of us. I'm very pleased that even with different nationalities, from different regions we could unite ourselves when speaking about tolerance. It is an unforgettable experience that l share with everyone when asked where l was and what was l doing the whole week.

I found there friends and teachers. I do believe that we can create a better future for our country, if we will try to forget about conflicts which surround us.

Lily and Tania, best organizers ever! Respect to #IUS. I hope that our #TrainOfTolerance will make more tolerate people in other cities, and our performance will be as successful as in Lviv! I'm happy to be the part of this project and to have the possibility to do so good things.

Thanks to everyone who took part in creating and organizing the project! It became my story and my own vision of things and were with me for the whole week."
