YEUish investigating extreme sport and street culture
Between September 27th - 29th the preliminary meeting of the exchange “Fukiyama” was held in Viimsi, Estonia. The 2 day meeting gathered together all the leaders from each promoter country. YEU was represented by the organisations MRR (YEU Serbia), Centre for Intercultural Dialogue (Macedonia) and Viimsi Youth Council (Estonia). The other partner organisations from France and Spain are partner organizations of the organizer NGO Haabersti Leisure and Sport Club.
The aim of the exchange is to discover the opportunities of practicing the elements of street culture and extreme sport in each participating country. Throughout the exchange we will have several activities where the participants have an opportunity to learn more about the different elements like graffity, jumstyle, sky park, skating, bmx, beatbox, battle, etc. In addition, we have a round table with authorities and an Act it Out session in Pääsküla Youth Center which is the only one that has an indoor skate park in Tallinn! During the Act it Out we intend to interact with local youngsters interested in the topic.
The outcome of the exchange is foreseen to be concrete proposals to authorities what needs to be developed in local communities in order to meet the needs of youth practicing street culture and extreme sport. Furthermore we are going to design concrete methods and measures how to change the reputation of the topic.
