Quality for more or less?: QA of NFE Evaluation Meeting in Brussels
Do we really need additional work regarding our international projects? Do we really need to fill in more documents? I am fed up with PAPER WORK! No more!
These are just a few of the thoughts that came my mind when I heard about this " Quality Assurance Process" and that YEU was going to join this pilot phase of it in one of its trainings. But now I have to admit I have completely changed my mind! Why?
First let me just shortly remind you what this Quality Assurance is all about. Quality Assurance, that is an initiative of the European Youth Forum, is the process designed with a dual purpose: of improving the quality of youth initiatives and communicating clearly to the stakeholders about the importance of it. The Quality of NFE in youth NGOs demonstrates the degree to which the selected needs of society and of learners are reached and addressed.
After an open call and selection procedure, 6 Member Organizations of the European Youth Forum were selected to take part in this pilot project. For the purpose of this 3 meetings took place. The whole pilot project started with a kick-off meeting where participants received a short training on the process of the QA of NFE and discussed the implementation of the project. Then there was a Peer Feedback meeting during which the overview of the projects and the quality indicators were presented and the innovative concept of receiving feedback from your peers to encourage development was introduced.
The third and last meeting, which took place on the 28th-29th of January 2012 in Brussels was called "QA NFE/ Evaluation Meeting", was a crucial point for the whole process as it aimed to further evaluate the procedure itself rather than the projects of the MOs. There was space to share individual’s experiences, the learning achievements and for a critical overview regarding the process. The value of QANFE process for a youth organizations was thoroughly discussed and further input for improvement was provided.
Well let’s come back to my first question - is this process an additional work burden? Honestly, on first thought the immediate reply might be yes but when you think about it more then you realized that by implementing Quality Assurance in your event you make your life just simply easier. You will definitely put in order everything without leaving the smallest detail behind, you will improve the quality of your event, increase the educational outcomes and above all you will sharing it with others Peers and in fact their feedback will help you to see your project in a objective way and improve as well. It is also a perfect guideline for those who are organising event for the first time!
Did I make you a little bit curious? If yes then simply be on the lookout for the finished product coming from the YFJ very soon!
