Facilitating inclusion – empowering youth with fewer opportunities
In February 2010 took place a training for facilitators in the CoE European Youth Centre in Strasbourg. The training was meant for those working with youngsters in the field of social inclusion. I had a chance to participate in it, representing YEU.
The training was aimed at young leaders willing to work in the future as facilitators of youth workers and youngsters working in the field of social inclusion. The team of trainers consisted of an intercultural team of two Educational Advisors of the Directorate of Youth, Sports, Culture and Education of the Council of Europe, and three freelance trainers and facilitators.
The training itself consisted of presentations, role plays, discussions, working groups where the participants, divided into 6 groups, to prepare their workshops and to act as facilitators for the other participants. In the evenings participants had a nice chance to sit in discussion groups to share their own experience, to present their organizations and to speak about future cooperation. This was one of the best experiences of international projects and I learnt so much that I can share with other YEU members. I hope that some of you may also get the chance for a similar opportunity soon.
