Eurogames Launching Seminar in Cyprus: Non Formal Education in Action - increasing inclusiveness in youth work and volunteering.
The Cyprus Youth Clubs Organization (CYCO) in collaboration with YEU International successfully implemented the Launching Seminar of the European project "Eurogames 2010: Non Formal Education in Action - increasing inclusiveness in youth work and volunteering” in Nicosia, on Saturday the 3rd of December 2011. The seminar and launching activities were facilitated by the YEU Trainers Marko Paunovic and Kostas Kompotis, and Cyprus Youth Council Trainer Polymnia Tomasidou.
The theme of the seminar was the social inclusion of people with disabilities in youth activities through non-formal learning methods, for the purposes of which a presentation of the “Eurogames 2010 ” booklet was held. The seminar was very successful as there were participants from various youth organizations and organizations that have a direct impact on people with disabilities. The booklet, also available in Greek, was received with great enthusiasm by participants who also enjoyed the opportunity to learn about the project “Eurogaming 2010”, the activities held during the project, as well as examine how they could at a later stage involve their members in the booklet activities.
The participants also had the opportunity to put in practice several activities included in the booklet. During the seminar presentations, discussions, ice breaking and role play activities as well as other non-formal educational methods were used so that participants could understand and assimilate the content and methods of transmission and implementation of these activities. The Minister of Labor and Social Insurance of the Republic of Cyprus praised these kinds of initiatives and noted that this is a very big step for the social inclusion of people with disabilities, while at the same time pledged to be supportive and sponsor programmes and seminars that will be implemented in this area in future by the Cyprus Youth Clubs Organization.
