Alcohol Policy Youth Network’s Annual Coordination Meeting in Lisbon
October 15th – 17th took place the Alcohol Policy Youth Network’s Annual Coordination Meeting in Lisbon, Portugal. The aim of the meeting was to gather together all the representatives in order to make amendments in the work plan 2010-2011, the guidelines for secretariat appointments and select a new interim general coordinator.
The latest news of the network is the previous General Coordinator Joao Salviano stepped back from his position for several reasons. Instead of him the new coordinator is Jan Peloza. Jan was agreed to be the interim general coordinator till the next annual coordination meeting.
Together with the selection of a new coordinator there were made amendments to the guidelines of the secretariat appointments as a new secretariat team will be put together in November. Moreover, we went through the work plan which was the most difficult task.
The most important news of the network is that finally after 2 years of action it is agreed that the network needs to register as a NGO as soon as possible. There have been huge funding problems over the last years and that is why there have not been any ambitious actions. The registration of a NGO is seen as a solution to get funding and start implementing all the activities as previewed.
After the two days in Lisbon all the representatives agreed that it was just a starting point of the new actions. Hopefully everything that we discussed and proposed will be put in action.
