New Cycle for Structured Dialogue taking off
Increasing young people’s creativity, innovation capability and talent as part of their active citizenship and employability. This is Danish Presidency priority for the next six months regarding the Structured Dialogue under the overall heading of youth participation in democratic life. The national consultations have already finished and now the National Working Groups are writing reports compiling opinions of thousands of young people regarding two basic things: how to increase youth participation in democratic life such as election procedures, which is linked with active citizenship, and how the next generation programme for youth should be constructed in terms of supporting youth organizations, offering young people broad ways for developing their innovation and creativity and also engaging more youth.
After sending the reports of the NWG to the European Steering Committee, the EU Youth Conference will take place on the 18th – 21st of March in Soro, during which representatives of youth organizations, government officials and European Organizations Stakeholders will debate on the conclusions from the European-wide consultations with young people. It is worthy to mention that the first cycle of Structured Dialogue resulted in the adoption of the Resolution on Youth Employment by the Council of the European Union on the 20th of May 2011. The first part of the second cycle conducted by Poland finished with the Council Conclusions on the Eastern Dimension of Youth Participation and Mobility adopted on the 29th of November. Regardless the form of the document adopted by the Council in respect to the current priorities of SD, surely the topic is crucial for improving the situation of young people in the labour market in Europe, and therefore their voice should be actively listened.
