For the Future of the Mediterranean region
On September 19th, around 100 people gathered in Brussels to discuss the future of the Mediterranean region. This meeting focused on the NET-MED Youth network and was organized by the joint efforts of UNESCO and the European Commission. The meeting included representatives from the UNESCO and the European Commission, members of youth organisations, representatives of public institutions in the Mediterranean and young beneficiaries of NET-MED Youth from Algeria, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Palestine and Tunisia.
During the event, we heard personal stories of young people from the NET-MED youth and testimonies coming from European Youth organizations’ representatives which gave us an idea of the efforts/actions being put in place and the impact they have oh the Mediterranean youth. Apart from this, we got to hear the input of the European Commission and UNESCO on the situation.
This meeting also had a big impact by joining donors and beneficiaries of projects that have and continue having a big impact on the NET-MED youth. The topics were varied and focused on the main challenges of the Mediterranean Youth - democratic governance, conflict, unemployment violent.
After and in between sessions, the participants got to talk among themselves and interact with each other. As this was a Youth event, we all got a bit popcorn to ‘Pop our Curiosity and Motivation’!
