EXPO enriching Cyprus EU Presidency: A Melting Pot of Musical Cultures
The 15th of April saw the closing for the applications for the massive Euro-Mediterranean Youth Music Expo. The event aims to gather over 200 young musicians representing a great variety of music genres in order to share all sorts of musical experiences, including workshops, seminars, open-air public concerts, music labs and more, during an international 4-day event taking place from the 28th of September to the 1st of October in Limassol. The variety of events and guests, such as music teachers, organizers and professionals, ensures that everyone interested in music will find something for themselves.
The Expo is organized by the brand new initiative the Euro-Arab Youth Music Centre. Based on the belief that access to music is a fundamental human right and a factor contributing to the sustainable development of young people and our communities, Jeunesses Musicales International (JMI), the Cultural Movement EPILOGI of Limassol and the Arab Academy of Music (League of Arab States) have undertaken a joint venture to establish a Euro-Arab Youth Music Center, in Limassol, Cyprus. With this event, the Center aims to enhance the cultural activities and interaction among Eastern Mediterranean countries during the Cyprus Presidency of European Union in the second half of 2012.
