“Empowering through Storytelling” Call for partners
Dear Member Organizations and partners,
We are glad to announce that YEU is looking for partners for the Training Course “Empowering through Storytelling”.
Below you can see more information about the project:
Stories are important; they make us more alive, more courageous, more inspiring... They have a big influence in shaping the personality of an individual. Everyone can tell a story; there is no need to be an expert on the field to narrate. Everyone is expert of its life story. Storytelling is a process of making people listen, think critically, share, interpret, enhance the vital skills of communication, and analyse the experiences.
The purpose of a storyteller is not to tell you how to think, but to stimulate you by given questions.
The idea of storytelling promoted through the non-formal education is quite a new approach, and it is very useful for the youth organizations that focus especially on empowering young people.
Furthermore, according to some researchers (“What listening to a story does to your brain” https://blog.bufferapp.com/science-of-storytelling-why-telling-a-story-is-the-most-powerful-way-to-activate-our-brains by Leo Widrich), storytelling is a way to keep our brain alive, active and receptive. When we share stories with others, it helps us to shape our thinking, reflect about ourselves, our way of life and eventually acquire valuable knowledge. The person that is telling a story (the storyteller), simply by the fact that is telling it, can set up ideas, thought and emotions into the listener brain with an informal approach.
Storytelling is a crucial communication strategy and a powerful method for anyone that wishes to use it. It leads group of people into the future, taking them through changes, influencing, motivating and inspiring them, http://www.stchangg.com/blog/why-stories-are-so-important/.
Telling of stories, every kind (personal, professional, heard stories) of it, is of great value to recognize and focus on the details that reveal or inspire you as human being. Every aspect of your life and growth will remain there, as part of your history-however you choose to tell it. Listening of a story of someone that has gone through changing, it’s a powerful tool to understand, learn and figure out the lesson by ourselves. So in this context, YEU envisions to explore new and powerful ways about this topic, which leads European young people to build their capacities in taking decision making, as a way that leads to social inclusion.
