Call for YEU Communications Officer (30% of working hours, telework)
Youth for Exchange and Understanding, is an international youth organization. It was founded in Strasburg, in 1986, by a group of 120 people, from 11 different countries. Today it’s a member of the European Youth Forum and LifeLong Learning Platform and carries the title of an International Non-Governmental Organization, recognized by both the Council of Europe and the European Union. Almost 37 years after its foundation, YEU, today, has 36 Member Organisations across 27 countries in Europe and Africa. YEU works for the benefit of all young people in Europe. Youth for Exchange and Understanding (YEU) is seeking for a COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER to join our team and be responsible for closely following and implementing YEU communications strategy and social media plan by working on online communications and dissemination of YEU work starting from November 15th 2018.
The person selected will work closely and report to YEU Secretary General. This is a subcontracted position of 30% of working hours. It may require occasional traveling and attendance of meetings and other project activities around Europe.
TASKS OF COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER:
Monthly newsletter: acting as the editor-in-chief of YEU Newsmail, creating and gathering content from YEU office, Governing Board and Member Organisations and ensuring content and delivery quality;
Monthly internal newsletter: acting as the editor in chief of YEU Internal News, creating and gathering content from other stakeholders, institutions and actors of YEU interest, YEU office, Governing Board and Member Organisations and ensuring content and delivery quality;
Social media: managing YEU accounts and using your creativity to manage and implement a social media strategy;
Website management: ensuring that the website is up-to-date with news, publications and positions papers on a weekly or monthly basis.
PROFILE, COMPETENCES AND REQUIREMENTS:
At least 2 years of experience in creating content for online communications channels in English language with excellent writing skills. English native-speaker equivalent is highly desirable;
Understanding of non-formal education and youth work, experience is highly desirable
Understanding of work of institutions such as European Commission, European Parliament and Council of Europe, familiar with EU policies and the EU decision-making process
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, team player, flexibility and reliability
Sociable team player used to a fast-paced digital environment, and capable to take initiative, respect tight deadlines and pay attention to details
Ability to work in an international and multicultural environment
well-organised and creative
Availability to start in November 2018
