YEU supports youth of Ukraine!
Youth for Exchange and Understanding as an international organization promoting peace, understanding and co-operation among the young people of the world, in a spirit of respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms is condemning the newly escalated situation in Ukraine and the use of violence from all sides – both police and protestors. We are stressing the importance of starting the non-violent and peaceful dialogue which will protect the democratic values on which European societies are built upon.
We are especially concerned with the laws forcing NGOs that receive international funding to register as "foreign agents” as we believe in the right of people, especially youth, to express their thoughts and act freely while cooperating with whom they choose.
We call on the Government of Ukraine to act in accordance with its international obligations and secure human rights of all the people in the country.
YEU believes that fundamental democratic values such as freedom of speech and freedom of assembly must not be compromised at any cost. We are urging all sides to constrain themselves from violent actions as it will only deepen the conflict.
We encourage the youth in Ukraine to continue expressing their active civil society position in a peaceful way lead Ukraine to its way to European Union.
