What is going on in Cerebra?
In 2011, the Agency for Development and Cooperation Cerebra joined nine other NGOs to form a network now known as Re:action - Citizens Initiative for Banja Luka.
One of the key reasons why Re:action was formed was that it could improve the dialog between the citizens, the government and the civil society in the decision-making processes on both the local and state levels.
Re:action is currently working on a project funded by the USAID in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which should greatly benefit the local communities of this city. The name of the yearlong project is “Promoting the Role of Civil Society in Policy Making in the City of Banja Luka“ and it aims to improve the budgeting process in Banja Luka.
In order to establish a two-way communication with the city administration and to set up criteria for choosing the funding priorities in the local communities, an expert analysis will be done with the focus on local communities and budget planning. This analysis will be followed by a policy paper about the organizational structure of the city. Cerebra and its partners will organize two round tables, press conferences and radio shows to present both documents to the public and inform the citizens of Banja Luka about how they can better participate in the decision making mechanisms regarding the budgeting of their city, thus increasing the transparency of the whole process.
