Membership Growth Project
Dear Member Organizations,
I am happy to inform you that YEU has been selected to take part in the Membership Growth Project of the European Youth Forum for 2013-2014 together with three other international organizations –YWCA, AEGEE, ACTIVE.
So, what is the Membership Growth Project? Nowadays as a board with Administrative Office we are observing the increasing importance of changing approach towards young generation, and you - our member organizations. We want to learn how to respond your current needs and encourage you to take more part in our activities. It’s a fact that young people are struggling to exist in a fast–changing world. Young people in Europe face high unemployment rates, a decrease in the equality of opportunity in education as well as social marginalization and increasing discrimination. Within this project, together with two member organizations, YEU- NAK Hellas and RCLE, we are going to learn how to adapt to the mentioned changes, empower your organizations and help you to reach out. We will also lead you to create safe environment and include more diverse young people in your organizations with a focus on marginalized and disadvantaged youth.
Membership Growth is currently among the priority working areas of YEU and we believe that MGP will bring us fresh ideas, concrete tools, skills and support. The kick-off meeting took place in the beginning of June in Antwerp. We had a chance to get to know the international and local member organization involved in the process and deeply discuss what membership meant to us. During the second part of the project, participants received training from an external couch about raising the engagement and commitment of members/volunteers on international and local level - which we found very useful and inspiring. The aim of the project is to increase the number of members at least 50%, make them actively involved in the long term perspective. In order to reach that purpose, we have to go through different tasks on local and international level. The next meeting will be held in September when the first results of this experiment (as we are calling it) are going to be shared.
