Call for YEU Project and Advocacy Officer (80% of working hours)
Youth for Exchange and Understanding, is an international youth organization. It was founded in Strasburg, in 1986, by a group of 120 people, from 11 different countries. Today it’s a member of the European Youth Forum and LifeLong Learning Platform and carries the title of an International Non-Governmental Organization, recognized by both the Council of Europe and the European Union. Almost 34 years after its foundation, YEU, today, has 33 Member Organisations across 27 countries in Europe and Africa. YEU works for the benefit of all young people in Europe. The Projects and Advocacy Officer will work under the supervision of the Secretary General with the employment contract under the Belgian law.
Carry out the implementation of Erasmus+ funded projects (KA2 and KA3 projects)
Management and organization of the activities linked to the projects carried out by YEU International with special attention to quality deliverables as defined by the projects
Arranging documentation for the reporting of all the activities and deliverables for YEU International (narrative and financial)
General Project management (overview, communications, documentation, reporting etc.)
Organisation of meetings and trainings (logistics, supporting and supervising content development and implementation)
Communication and cooperation with partners (other NGOs, European institutions) and follow up of the project activities
Establish and maintain good relationships with existing and potential donors
Policy and Advocacy:
Build relationships and follow developments within the Council of Europe, European Parliament, European Commission and other EU bodies;
Represent the organization at advocacy processes with the EU institutions, Council of Europe as well as other international organizations, mainstreaming YEU policies and strategic priorities;
Ensure development of YEU position papers, policy briefings, presentations and other policy and/or advocacy related outcomes;
Cooperate with other partners and platforms to promote key YEU positions within join advocacy and/or policy actions;
Update and keep colleagues and YEU members informed on relevant developments.
Strengthening capacities of YEU Member Organisations in the field of policy and advocacy
Develop and coordinate YEU's advocacy strategy 2020-2022
Support YEU’s communications strategy implementation
Support other YEU staff members in external and internal communications
Support development of YEU network
Support the YEU office in other general administrative tasks
PROFILE OF THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
Demonstrated experience of at least 2-3 years in project management and advocacy.
Experience working in a multicultural environment.
Excellent diplomatic and marketing skills.
Excellent communication skills in spoken and written English, knowledge of French is an asset
Good understanding of the international non-profit associations environment

YEU is offering 80% of working hours position - cca 30 hours per week. We are offering 2100 EUR gross (this is equivalent to the full time employment) and
Compensation of monthly ticket for public transport within Brussels
Lunch vouchers of the face value of 6 EUR/day
YEU has a small secretariat and it is expected that staff members support each other in their tasks. This position requires traveling within Europe several times a year (3-10 days) and the person is expected to be flexible regarding occasionally working on the weekends.
