International Youth Exchange -

At the door of the new decade, this project hosted together with YEU partner organisation in Portugal, MOJU and largely funded by the Youth in Action Programme, used innovative and new technologies for youth work to connect and fill the gap between the diversity of youth realities across Europe.

This activity created a space for young people to exchange and explore ways to use for educational objectives in promoting active citizenship and European identity the innovative&new technologies that are already familiar to young people for social purposes. With the specific focus of building European identity through the border-less, internet virtual spaces&platforms and other tools and methods, the event provided a unique opportunity for young, culturally diverse people from youth organizations to learn how to use these tools to motivate&enable young people across Europe to take an active, participating role in their own communities and contribute positively to building the common vision of a peaceful and stable Europe.

The exchange was held from 27th of December 2009 to 2nd of January 2010 in Faro, Algarve, Portugal & involve 35 participants from 7 programme countries who are members of one of the 7 partner organisations. The programme fused non-formal education methods with creative and innovative tools of new technologies.

The programme also involved important contributions to structured dialogue on youth affairs in Portugal with Round Table events with Olhao and Faro Municipalities, the Portuguese Youth Institute and the Algarve Regional Governments. These events also helped to raise the profile of the activity in local and national media in Portugal.
